Why Do Church Volunteers Quit?
A common reason is simply tiredness. In many churches, a small group does most of the jobs week after week, and eventually burns out.
Other reasons come up again and again: not knowing what’s expected, never being thanked and finding out about a slot at the last minute.
A fair rota helps more than anything. Spread the load across more people, give plenty of notice and send a reminder a few days before. Make it easy to swap, and let people mark the weeks they’re away. Thank people often, and check each year whether they still want the role, so stepping back never feels like letting anyone down.
