What Should Be on a Gift Aid Declaration?
HMRC doesn’t set a design, but every declaration must include:
- the church’s name
- the giver’s full name
- their home address, or at least their house name or number and postcode
- which gifts it covers, such as this gift, all future gifts or gifts from the past 4 years
- a statement that they want Gift Aid to apply, such as a ticked box
- an explanation that they must pay enough UK tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all their gifts that year
A signature isn’t needed. HMRC’s model declaration covers all of this, so it’s the safest place to start.
