Can I Claim Gift Aid on Small Donations?
Yes, in two ways. If the giver has made a Gift Aid declaration, any amount counts, however small. Gifts of £20 or less from people with declarations can even be added together on one line of your claim, up to £1,000 a line.
For small gifts with no declaration, such as loose plate cash, the Small Donations Scheme lets a church claim a 25% top-up. Each gift must be £30 or less, in cash or by contactless card.
You can claim on up to £8,000 of these a year, which is up to £2,000 back. Your church must also claim Gift Aid in the same tax year.
