Church life or news: the app knows the difference

Church life emails, such as rota changes or service times, go to everyone with an email address. News and appeals count as marketing, so they only go to adults who’ve agreed.

Before you send, you’ll see exactly who it will reach and who it won’t, and why.

Writing an email to the Tuesday Bible study, choosing between Church life and News and appeals. A box shows it will reach 8 people and that 1 has no email address.

Send to the right people

Email everyone, one group or any saved list, such as parents of primary school children. Add each person’s first name with a click.

Send yourself a test first, send now or schedule it for later.

The New email page asking who it’s for: everyone in the church or a group, with a note that you’ll see who will get it before anything is sent.

Unsubscribes and bounces, handled

Every news email has an unsubscribe link. If someone uses it, or their address stops working, they’re taken off future emails without you doing a thing.

People can also choose what they hear about in their member area.

The Unsubscribes and bounces page, listing an address that unsubscribed from news and appeals and one that bounced because the mailbox doesn’t exist.

Questions churches ask

Do we need people’s agreement to email them?
For news, events and appeals, yes: UK law treats these like marketing. Church life emails about things people are part of don’t need agreement. Our guide explains the difference.
Who do the emails come from?
Your church’s name, sent through our email service. Replies go to your church office email address.
Can we send newsletters with pictures?
The editor keeps to text, headings, lists and links, so emails stay clear and arrive safely. You can link to a newsletter on your website.
